Orthodox calendar, August 13 Odovania of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord The term odovanie comes from the Slavonic language and means end, conclusion. In the Orthodox Church, the duration of the celebration of royal holidays is one day, with the exception of the Feast of the Resurrection, which lasts three days in a row. But, for the spiritual preparation of the faithful, all royal feasts are preceded by a time of preparation called preserbare, pre-celebration or pre-celebration.

Also, royal holidays have a period of continuation or extension of the celebration, called after-celebration or after-celebration. The first day of the pre-celebration is called the beginning of the celebration, and the last day of the post-celebration is called, with a Slavonic term, odovania, meaning the end, the unraveling or the conclusion of the celebration.

The custom of extending the great holidays for certain periods is inherited in the Orthodox cult from that of the Old Testament; in Christianity, the first manifestation of this kind is mentioned by history in the time of the holy emperor Constantine the Great, on the occasion of the festivities of the consecration of the basilicas in Jerusalem and Tire (September 13, 335), consecration that was celebrated every...
