Archpriest Sergiy Kislyuk performed the funeral litany at the reburial ceremony of the remains of the Soviet pilot who died on the first day of the Great Patriotic War

On July 17, 2026, the cleric of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the city of Kobrin, Archpriest Sergius Kislyuk, performed the funeral litany during the reburial of the remains of a Soviet pilot who died on the first day of the Great Patriotic War.

The ceremony took place in the park named after V.P. Puganov on Pervomaiskaya Street as part of events dedicated to the Day of the City of Kobrin. The new resting place of the defender of the Fatherland was a military burial located in the park.

The remains of a serviceman of the 123rd Aviation Regiment were discovered and recovered by personnel of the 52nd Separate Specialized Search Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus during search operations near the village of Eremichi.

The Soviet pilot was buried with military honors next to his comrades. Currently, the remains of 174 Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of the Motherland are buried in a military grave in the park named after V.P. Puganov.

Helen BakerIt’s good they gave him a proper burial with the others in the square after all these years. Finding those remains near Ерёмичи must have taken real patience from the search battalion. May he rest in peace.

Ljubica IlićYes, it's good that they finally gave him a proper burial, next to his comrades in the square near the Puganovs. That 123rd aviation regiment suffered terribly on the first day of the war. May he rest in eternal peace, and thank Father Sergius for serving the liturgy.
