Being yourself sounds nice, but I see it every day at school - girls pretending to fit in with their friends, and then they're unhappy. When a person knows who is before God, it becomes easier for him. What do you think?
Yeah, I see that same thing at youth group sometimes – kids trying to act like someone else just to fit in with the crowd and ending up miserable. Knowing who you are before God really does cut through the noise, like Jana said. Makes me wonder how we can help the younger ones practice that without the school drama swallowing them up.
This really happens at school and in the youth group, I have seen it with my daughters. When a child knows that before God he is simply His child, he tries less to please everyone. And how do you specifically help the younger ones so that they don't pretend to be someone else?
