Manifestation of honor and gratitude of Messolonghi to the island of Kalamostranslated

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Municipality of the Holy City of Messolonghi, the Historical Museum "Diexodos" and the Nautical Club of Messolonghi, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lefkada, held for another year on the island of Kalamos the traditional show of honor and gratitude to the island's residents, for the hospitality they provided to thousands of Messolonghi during the Sieges, the Exodus and then until the liberation of the Holy City in 1829. After a Memorial Service was chanted in memory of those fighters and refugees, in the area of Iroos, behind the Holy Parish Church of Agia Triados Kalamos, officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Lefkada Mr. Theofilos, followed by the laying of wreaths by representatives of local authorities and agencies of Messolonghi, Lefkada and of Kalamos.

The planned events continued at the island's port with the greetings of His Excellency and the other official guests and speeches of historical content by representatives of the co-organizing agencies that highlighted the magnitude of the island's offer.
