The beginning of the new Ecclesiastical Year in the Patriarchate of Georgiatranslated

A prayer service for the beginning of the new Church Year (Beginning of the Indictus) took place in the Cathedral of Zion in Tbilisi, presided over by the Catholic Patriarch of all Georgia, Mr. Sio III, on Monday September 1/14, 2026.  Hierarchs and clergy from the Church of Georgia, students from the Theological Academy and the Theological Seminary of Tbilisi as well as students from various schools of the Georgian capital participated in the service.

Immediately after the conclusion of the service, the Catholic Patriarch addressed a paternal speech with a reference to the importance of the beginning of the church year, while on the occasion of the start of the new school year he addressed a paternal admonition speech to the students.

In the end, His Holiness Mr. Sio III and the holy clergy went to the tomb of the blessed Patriarch Ilias II where a trisayo was held for the repose of his soul.
