Today, August 2, 2026, Sunday of Matthew IX, Rev. Metropolitan of Symi, Mr. Chrysostomos officiated at Orthros, performed the Consecration at the beginning of the new month of August and the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan I. Church of the Holy Forerunner of Symi, with co-celebrants Fr. Stefanos Makris, Vicar of the Temple and Hierodeacon Fr. Pavlos Terezakis. The Divine Word was preached instructively by Rev. Pastor Mr. Chrysostomos, who referred to today's Gospel passage, taking the congregation to the raging Lake of Gennesaret, where the Disciples were fighting alone in the night with the waves and the contrary wind. This tossing ship is our very life, our family and our daily life, while the winds are our own trials, illnesses, anxieties and upheavals that fill us with fear. In the darkness of their agony, Christ comes to them walking on the waves and addresses them with the redemptive word: "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid".
