Food offer from the Diocese of Corfutranslated

With the grace of the Most Holy God and the practical love of the people, the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos & Diapontian Islands, through the General Benevolence Fund and its four Social Grocers, proceeded on Monday, August 3, 2026, to distribute food and basic necessities to 300 families, who are experiencing economic and social difficulties, in view of the Pansept holiday of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On the occasion of the distribution, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos & Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios expressed his deep gratitude to all those who continuously support the charitable and social work of the local Church. He made a special mention of the parishes and the pious believers of the Holy Metropolis, who with their constant offering become valuable companions in the work of love.

He also addressed warm thanks to the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi of Mount Athos for the generous offer of chickens and fish, to the management of Diellas supermarkets for the valuable contribution of food and basic necessities, to the Rotary Club of Corfu for the stationery sponsorship, the Mayor of North Corfu for...

Thank you for telling me. It’s good that 300 families received help just before the Dormition - in Yekaterinburg we also often do such distributions before the holidays. I wonder exactly how many chickens and fish Vatopedi handed over, probably a lot has differed.
