Excerpt from the ever-present text of the Holy Community of Mount Athos entitled "Mount Athos and the education of our Genus", Mount Athos 1984.

The text was written by Archimandrite Vassilios (Gontikakis), then abbot of the Holy Monastery of Stavronikita and later of the Holy Monastery of Iberon.

Mount Athos usually speaks with its silence.

But there are occasions when the silence of the Mount is spoken.

This is what happens when the Truth of our Faith and Life is falsified.

When this forgery risks altering the most precious thing we have, our soul.

The following text is a speech on behalf of Mount Athos for the education of the Genus.

We address it with love and pain to all our brothers. Those responsible for Education, the youth and all our people.

We do not want to speak or present individual opinions.

We want and pray that Mount Athos, Orthodoxy, will speak.

To speak strictly and at the same time philanthropically. Not to condemn but to correct, to tell stories.

Accept, our brothers, the contribution of Mount Athos to the subject of Education with the same love that your Holy Community of Mount Athos...
