August 8: Feast of Saint Emilian Cyzicus the Confessortranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of Saints Emilian of Cyzicus the Confessor (9th century) and Myron of Knossos, the miracle worker (†350), who was born on Decius, southwest of Knossos, on the great island of Crete. Myron's parents cultivated humility and love. Being a farmer he offered a large part of his harvest to the poor. As long as the Saint showed mercy to those in need, the fruits of his fields increased. He was married. Through the marriage experience he exercised himself with patience in the acquisition of the virtues. After the untimely death of his wife, Osios joined the holy clergy and was ordained an elder in the midst of persecution. Subsequently, he was made bishop of Knossos by bishop Pinitos.

Knossos Myron remains philanthropic and humble. Thus, the Saint "passed the rest of his life in a godly and holy way", he fell asleep in old age.
