Protopresbyter Pericles Magafas Academytranslated

The Holy Diocese of Messinia, after being moved, announces the excommunication to the Lord of the now blessed Archpriest Pericles Magafas. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Intercessor of Christ, Kalamata, while the burial will take place, according to his wish, in his hometown of Melpeia, Messinia.

Biography of Protopresbyter Pericles Magafas The blessed Protopresbyter Pericles Magafas was born in Ano Melpia, Messinia in the year 1930.

He received his circular education at the Higher Ecclesiastical Training School of Kalamata and was ordained a Deacon by the Blessed Metropolitan of Messinia Chrysostomos Daskalakis on July 5, 1959 in the Holy Church of Agios Georgios Kalamata.  He was ordained an elder on July 18, 1959 by the same Metropolitan in the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen of Siamou, a parish in which he ministered until the year 1963 when he was transferred to the Parish Church of Agios Nikolaos Flarios Kalamata, where he ministered honorably and contributed the most for the its renovation and maintenance as well as for the construction of the Parish House.
