The late Father Christos Pappas, the first North Epirus priest ordained by Archbishop Anastasiostranslated

Fr. Christos Pappas, cleric of the Holy Metropolis of Argyrokastro, fell asleep at the age of 88, after hospitalization at the University General Hospital of Ioannina.  The news was made known by his son, Leonidas Pappas, with a post on social media. The exodus service will be held in the birthplace of the Blessed, in the Holy Church of Saints Tessarakonta Alykos, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The late Levite of God was one of the first Northern Epirus to be ordained a priest by the blessed Archbishop of Albania Mr. Anastasios in 1991, shortly after the fall of the atheistic regime during which an attempt was made to eradicate faith from people's souls while the persecutions were also harsh against the Greeks of Northern Epirus.

Born in 1938 in Alykos, he traveled until his last day in 2026 with the history and experiences of Northern Mainland Hellenism, while many times he became the target of nationalist circles in Albania.
