Archpriest Sculptor at the Basilica of Saint Achillios for the 1,400 years of the Akathistos Hymntranslated
On the occasion of the completion of 1,400 years since the composition of the Akathistos Hymn, the Holy Metropolis of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia will commemorate this anniversary with the celebration of the High Priestly Compilation, on Saturday August 8, 2026, from 06:30 to 10:00, in the Basilica of Agios Achillios Prespa. This anniversary is an important milestone for the Orthodox Church, as the Akathistos Hymn remains one of the most important monuments of ecclesiastical hymnography and of honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Following the invitation of the Pastor Mr. Irenaios, the High Priestly Collaborator, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos Mr. Ieronymos will preside.
The Holy Metropolis invites the holy clergy and the pious people to participate in this solemn devotional meeting in the Basilica of Agios Achilleios Prespa.
