With special spiritual joy and emotion, the Three-Day Pilgrimage of the Holy Metropolis of Ilia and Oleni began, with the blessed presence of our Reverend Metropolitan Mr. Athanasiou II, who is accompanied by the Protosygello Fr Filaretos Spanopoulos, with a 20-member Choir of Clergy and 280 Pilgrims. Our Seventh Pastor, having special care for the Spiritual strengthening of God's people, instituted these Sacred Pilgrimages to be carried out annually, as another expression of his Pastoral Ministry, with the aim of cultivating the Ecclesiastical consciousness, strengthening the Spiritual life of the faithful, but also highlighting Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism, which is an important means of getting to know the Holy places, the History and Tradition of our Orthodox Church.
