Event of historical memory in Didymoteichotranslated

The Holy Metropolis of Didymoteicho, Orestia and Soufli and the Municipality of Didymoteicho (Department of Culture) co-organized a particularly interesting historical event, with the theme: "The Didymoteicho in the historical developments of the years 1922-1923", which took place on the evening of Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Spiritual Center of the Holy Cathedral Church of Panagia Eleftherotria Didymoteicho. The event was held with speakers Mr. Ioannis M. Bakirtzis, Professor of the Democritus University of Thrace, who developed the topic: "The armistice of the Moudanians and the special mention of Didymoteichus in the Lausanne talks" and the lawyer of Orestias from Areio Pago and historical researcher Mr. Vasilios D. Parapagidis, who developed the topic: "The Greek state and the exercise of national sovereignty in Eastern Thrace until the armistice of Moudania".

It was an event of historical memory and knowledge, which highlighted unknown or less well-known aspects of history and illuminated the important reference of Didymoteichus in the talks connected with the Treaty of Lausanne.
