Patriarch John was informed about the lively Antiochian presence in Turkeytranslated

The pride of the Church of Antioch and its constant care for its parishes located in Turkey was mentioned by the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, Mr. John I'.  On Monday, July 27, 2026, His Holiness received the Theophilus Bishop Mr. Paul (Ordouloglou) and the president of the association of Swediya, Mr. Cem Akgöl, at the Patriarchal House in Damascus.

His Beatitude Mr. Ioannis was informed by the Bishop and by the president of the association, about the stages of the restoration of the Holy Church of Agios Ilias in Swedigia, after the earthquake of the year 2023, and about the biotic reality in the area.

For his part, he underlined, before the delegation, the pride of the Antiochian Church for the living Antiochian presence in Turkey.

The Patriarch also confirmed that the Antiochian Church seeks, with all the possibilities it has, to stand by the side of its children, wherever they are and under all circumstances.
