Gortynos Nikiforos: The Virgin Mary as a loving Mother remains close to every human beingtranslated

The Reverend Metropolitan of Gortynos and Megalopolis Mr. Nikiforos issued his Encyclical for the days of the fifteenth of August, emphasizing that especially in our time we need the example that our Virgin Mary gave us with her life. The Circular in detail:

"When you gave birth you preserved your virginity, when you fell asleep you did not destroy the world, Theotokos".

Beloved in the Lord,

With these divinely inspired words, our Holy Church sings today the mystery of the seventh Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and Immaculate Mary. In the heart of summer, the entire Orthodoxy celebrates the "Summer Easter" and looks with gratitude to the Virgin Mother of our Lord.

Today, although it brings the human sadness of parting, it is also a day of joy, hope and spiritual joy. The Virgin Mary completes her earthly journey and delivers her holy soul into the hands of her Son and God. The Apostles, miraculously gathered from the ends of the earth, surround her bed. They are in human pain for her departure, but they do not mourn like those who have no hope. They know that her Sleep is not disappearance,...
