The Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of the City in Fanaritranslated

A.Th. Panagiotis the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos received today, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of the City, Mr. Nuri Aslan. During the cordial discussion they had, Mr. Aslan, who was accompanied by the General Secretary of the Municipality Prof. Mr. Volkan Demir, expressed his interest in the initiatives of the Patriarchate and in the problems of the Roman Community.

The meeting was attended, on behalf of the Patriarchate, by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Geron Derko, Mr. Apostolos.

Deputy Mayor Mr. Aslan, on the occasion of his ceremonial visit, offered His Holiness a panoramic photo of the historic City and an elegant edition with old maps, with the Patriarch returning various souvenirs.

Καλό που ο δήμαρχος Aslan ενδιαφέρθηκε συγκεκριμένα για τα προβλήματα της Ρωμαίικης Κοινότητας. Η πανοραμική φωτογραφία που έδωσε στον Πατριάρχη πρέπει να είναι όμορφη, θυμίζει παλιές εποχές. Ελπίζω να βγει κάτι χειροπιαστό από αυτή την επίσκεψη.

The gifts sound nice, especially those old maps. Good to see Aslan asking about the actual problems the Greek community faces there. Hope something practical comes from it, like Δημήτρα said.
