Reception of Holy Relics and the Holy Icon of the Holy Forty Martyrs in Macedonian Meteoratranslated

Days of spiritual joy and rapture are experienced by the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Prasinada Paranesti, which on the afternoon of Sunday, August 2, 2026, received the graceful holy relics of the Holy Forty Martyrs and their holy icon, a relic of refugees from the Pontus. For the blessing of the fathers and the devout pilgrims of the Monastery, the Holy Reverences were offered by the Theophilous Bishop of Kotiaios, Mr. Dionysios (Ecumenical Patriarchate) and the relevant Pastor, His Eminence Metropolitan of Drama, Mr. Dorotheos. The litanic procession, accompanied by representatives of Pontic associations and traditional instruments, ended up at the monastery's catholicon, where a grand celebratory vespers was chanted.

The next day, Monday, August 3, 2026, a bi-priestly Divine Liturgy was celebrated. Before the dismissal, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Drama, Mr. Dorotheos, ordained Fr. Vasilios Athanasiadis as Archimandrite, who for the last two years has been living in the monastery together with two other fathers and have undertaken the renovation and completion of it from the ground up.
