The deposing of Archimandrite Dionysios (Misef) was ratified by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate during its meeting today, Friday, October 2, 2026. According to the announcement, the Holy Synod met in full composition as an Ecclesiastical Court and examined the material of the case concerning Archimandrite Dionysios. After the examination and discussion of the case, the highest administrative and judicial body of the Church of Bulgaria ratified the decision of the Ecclesiastical Court of the Holy Metropolis of Sofia, dated September 1, 2026, by which the cleric was imposed the penalty of "removal from the rank, without excommunication from the Church".

As it is characteristically stated in the announcement, "the Holy Synod ratified the decision of the Ecclesiastical Court of the Sofia Metropolis of September 1, 2026, by which he was imposed the penalty of "Demotion from rank, without excommunication from the Church".

The Patriarch of Bulgaria Daniel and the Metropolitans of Veliko Tirnovo Grigorios, Pleven Ignatios, Lovets Gabriel, Antonios of Western and Central Europe, Ioannis of Varna and Great Preslava, Seraphim of Nevrokopio, Grigorios of Vratsa and Vidinio etc. voted in favor of the decision.
