The image of the Virgin Mary in iconographytranslated

With a calm face, big eyes, to see and protect everyone, a small mouth to speak a little and dressed in a red garment, with that purple, the imperial color, the figure of the Virgin Mary is mostly depicted in the iconography. In her arms or in her hand she holds Christ who looks either to his mother or to the faithful in blessing. After all, in the representation of the Dormition of the Virgin, in the center of the image is the Virgin Mary herself on the bed while she is surrounded by the Apostles. Her soul is depicted as a little Virgin whom Christ takes and carries to heaven. They are even accompanied by Apostles who are in clouds in the procession that is heading towards the gates of paradise. These representations are described, speaking to APE-MPE, by the hagiographer Andromachi X. Voutsina, who mentions that the feast of the Dormition of the Virgin is the so-called "Summer Easter", the biggest celebration after Christmas and Easter.
