On the Mount Ampelana for the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Bishop Hieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavostranslated

In the evening of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the Very Reverend Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Bishop Hieronymos, visited the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen Ampelana, where a precious copy of the Holy Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of Gorgoupycco of the Holy Monastery of Dokearia Agiou Orou was venerated, and celebrated the Great Feast Hierarchic Evening Liturgy. A large crowd from the city of Ampelana and the surrounding villages gathered to honor the Mother of Light and to pray in her grace. Many priests from the neighboring areas also participated in the liturgical procession, to reflect the unity of our local Church and the fellowship among the Dioceses.

After the conclusion of the Eucharist, the Very Reverend preached a homily, referring to the Most Holy Theotokos as a model of obedience to God’s will, something which she exemplifies in her spiritual life and struggle, and for this reason, a constant and steadfast example for all of us who aspire to become citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.
