The Vigil for the Synagogue of Panagia Myrtidiotissa in Agia Paraskevi, Karditsatranslated

With particular fervor and the appropriate ecclesiastical splendor, on the evening of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi Karditsis, the holy Vigil for the Synagogue of the Most Holy Theotokos of the invoked "Myrtidiotissa" was held. The Holy Vigil, which began at 8:00 p.m., was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus, assisted by the Holy Clergy, while a large number of devout Christians came to the Holy Church to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and seek with faith and reverence her grace and maternal protection.

In his divine sermon, the Seventh Shepherd referred to the subtle, but essential and always alive presence of the Virgin Mary in the Church and in the lives of the faithful, with the occasion of the special significance of the period of forty days from her Dormition and Transfiguration.

As he characteristically pointed out, if we refer to the Holy Texts of the Gospels and Epistles, i.e. the books of the New Testament, we will find that the references to the person of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of the Lord, are relatively few. I am glad that His Holiness spoke about Luke and John, because indeed they give the warmest moments of the Virgin Mary in the Gospels. Here in Cyprus, Myrtidiotissa is like a second mother to many, so I understand the frustration they say. Have a good time everyone in Karditsa.
