Didymoteichos Damaskinos: "God will never stop calling us"translated

As we pass through the first days of the Fifteenth of August, the soul of our people turns to two great festive poles, the Transfiguration of the Savior and the Dormition of the Virgin, which redemptively open the horizons of our thinking to realize the immediate and ultimate meaning of human existence. Everything that takes place in the Church - prayer, teaching, fasting, works of faith and love, the communion of the faithful, especially the sacraments - transforms human life and elevates it to the "beautiful" archetype.

On the first Sunday of the fifteenth of August, on the 2nd of August, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestia and Soufli Mr. Damasquinos officiated at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the settlement of Sakkos of Orestia, where a copy of the fallen icon of the Virgin of "Arvanitissa" is kept, which is a faithful copy of miraculous icon located in the Koutloumousiou Monastery of Mount Athos.
