The monumental ensemble of Vasilissa Olga is being restored and highlightedtranslated

The Ministry of Culture, consistent with its strategy, for highlighting hitherto unknown aspects of the history and archeology of Athens, assigns to the city a unique part of its historical memory, the Roman monumental complex and the archaeological remains that were uncovered during the reconstruction works of Vasilissis Olgas Street. The excavation at Vasilissis Olgas revealed a magnificent Roman building complex, with a semi-circular atrium, arcades, organized spaces and an extensive network of sewers, which experienced successive building phases from the 3rd to the 5th century AD. The area north of Olympia, in the immediate vicinity of the Ilisos river, is one of the most important historical centers of Athens, with an uninterrupted human presence from prehistoric times to the early Byzantine times.
