120 Years Since the Consecration of the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos Ampelonus in Larissatranslated

At the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos Ampelonus, Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos Hieronymus, venerated today on Sunday September 20, 2026, celebrated the Divine Liturgy following the Panegyric Matins. This marks the 120th anniversary since that blessed day, when then Venerable Archbishop of Larissa and Platymanos Ambrosius (Kasaras) completed the consecration before a gathered multitude and handed over the Holy Church to public veneration as a triune sanctuary worshiping the Holy God. And today, a multitude came together to honor this good anniversary and once again express their thanks to the Lord of Glory for all that has been blessed and difficult, preserving in this place these 120 years, primarily because despite the bureaucratic hardships and efforts for the swift restoration of the Holy Church after extensive damages from the devastating earthquake on March 3, 2021, we today can enjoy a firm, safe, and capable Church to respond to the spiritual and functional needs of our beautiful city of Ampelonus.
