Canada Apostle: The Virgin Mary becomes a living eschatological image of the Churchtranslated

The newly elected Archbishop of Canada Mr. Apostolos issued his first pastoral event in which he explains the message and meaning of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for her upcoming feast on Saturday, August 15. It is noted that it is the first pastoral encyclical by a long shot, since the enthronement of Archbishop Apostolos has been set to take place on Saturday, September 19, at the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Toronto, by Archbishop Nikitas of Thyatira and Great Britain, whom Patriarch Bartholomew appointed as his representative.

Addressing the staff of the Archdiocese of Canada, Archbishop Apostolos underlines that "the feast of the Dormition and Transfiguration of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the leading theological festivals of the Church and, at the same time, an event of profound theological significance. The Church sees in the Dormition of the Virgin Mary not only the end of the earthly journey of a holy man, but the eschatological manifestation of the destiny of human nature within the grace of God".

He emphasizes that "the Mother of God is the person in whom human freedom is completely offered to the divine calling. Behold the handmaid of the Lord...
