Dimitriados Ignatios: "The ministry of John Schoris sealed our Local Church"translated

The four-day memorial service of the late Protopsaltos Ioannou Schoris was held today at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of Sotiros Volos, where he ministered for decades, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, performed by Rev. Metropolitan of Dimitrias, Mr. Ignatios, flanked by many Clergy of our Local Church. From the left wing, a numerous chorus of cantors, colleagues and students of the unforgettable teacher of the School of Byzantine Music of our Holy Metropolis sang, under the direction of the Lampadari of the Church, Mr. Evangelos Pavlidis, while a large number of believers participated.

The Divine Word was preached by Archim. Epifanios Oikonomou, Preacher of the Holy Metropolis.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Rev. Mr. Ignatios, observed that "just the presence of so many Priests, Chanters and our people proves that Ioannis Schoris was not an ordinary cantor, but a man of love, who received the love and respect of the holy Clergy and hundreds of his students, to whom he taught Byzantine music and tradition.
