Thiras Amfilochios: "The Virgin Mary is our warm embassy and refuge"translated
Yesterday, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Holy Pilgrimage Church of Panagia tis Episkopi, Vespers, the Little Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos and then the Praises of the Virgin before Her Epitaph were celebrated with great joy. The reverend Metropolitan of Thira, Amorgos and the Islands, Mr. Amfilochios, officiated at the service, with the participation of a large number of believers, who came to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, a few days before the great feast of her Assumption.
During his sermon, His Holiness referred to the Virgin Mary as the "warm embassy" of Christians, emphasizing Her motherly devotion to Her Son and God and calling on the faithful to take refuge with faith and trust in Her embassies.
The holy lectern was ministered by the Director of the School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Metropolis, Mr. Eutychios Markozannes and students of the School, rendering the hymns of the service and the Praises of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
