On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the presence of the Reverend Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini Mr. Panteleimonos as well as the Reverend Metropolitan of Xanthi and Peritherio Mr. Panteleimonos, the ceremony of handing over and receiving the Administration of the Democritus University of Thrace was officially held, in the forecourt area of the Rectorate building. During the ceremony, the newly elected Rector, Mrs. Maria Michalopoulou, officially assumed her duties, succeeding the outgoing Rector, Mr. Fotion Marin.
