It is with profound sadness that the Patriarchate of Jerusalem announces the death in the Lord, today, Thursday, October 1, 2026, after a long illness, of the Agios Faithful Archimandrite Ioustinos Mamalos, renovator of the Holy Pilgrimage of Jacob's Well and builder of the Holy Church of Saint Photini the Samaritan, in Neapolis (Namblus) Samaria. His life and many years of ministry were inextricably linked with the fundamental renovation and promotion of this Holy Monastery. The blessed one, with deep faith and warm love for Saint Sion, Mother of the Churches, and the Holy Pilgrimages, devoted his strength, efforts and a large part of his life to the renovation, the dignity and the preservation of the Holy Monastery, leaving a valuable legacy and an important work, which will keep alive the memory of his contribution.

The Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Agiotaphite Brotherhood, with emotion, forward the one who has fallen asleep in the Lord, praying that the Lord rests his soul "in the land of the living, in the tents of the righteous", where "there is no pain, no sorrow, no groaning, but eternal life".

The necessary procedures are already being considered, so that the tabernacle of the Blessed One can return to the Holy Land,...
