The Abbess of the Monastery of Agios Panteleimonos Smolian, nun Anastasia, has fallen asleeptranslated

Fell asleep on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 74, the Abbess of the Holy Monastery of Agios Panteleimonos Smolian, nun Anastasia.  The late nun was born on August 4, 1952 in Rudozem. She was baptized at the age of 33 on September 30, 1985 in the Dormition church in Smolyan and taking the name Christina.

On her initiative and with the providence of God, the venerable Metropolitan Arsenios of Philippopolis inaugurated the chapel of Agios Panteleimon on July 28, 1995 and the following year the construction of the present holy monastery began. On December 21, 2019, Christina was ordained as a nun by the Metropolitan of Philippopolis Mr. Nikolaos, who gave her the spiritual name Anastasia and appointed her abbess of the monastery.

Her whole life was spent in the ministry of the Lord and in the construction of the monastery of Agios Panteleimon above Smolyan, in which today there are three churches dedicated to Agios Panteleimon, Agios Cosmas and Damianos, and Agia Xenia of Petropolis.
