The Vespers of Panagia Myrtidiotissa in Pylostranslated

With due order and grandeur was held on the evening of Wednesday September 23, 2026, the solemn vespers of the patron saint of Pylos Panagia Myrtidiotissa, patron of the Most Reverend Metropolitan Elder of Leontopolis Mr. Gavriel. His Eminence was flanked by the Archdeacon of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia, Archim. Philippos Hamargias, the High Priestly Commissioner of Pylos Archim. Irenaios Gogounis, and clergy of the Archpriestly Regions of Pylos, Methoni and Petalidi. The local authorities were attended by the Member of Parliament of Messinia Mr. Periklis Mantas, the Mayor of Pylos-Nestoros Mr. Panagiotis Karvelas and a number of members of the Municipal Council.

Before the end of the Vespers Service, the Venerable Elder of Leontopolis, Mr. Gavriel, while preaching the divine word, referred to the Most Holy Theotokos, as Myrtidiotissa, interpreting the phrase "we celebrate her wonderfully".
