The Hellenic Red Cross celebrated World First Aid Day by organizing today, Saturday 12 September 2026, a large action in Syntagma Square, where hundreds of citizens were informed and trained in First Aid. Nurses of the Health Education Service, Volunteer Samaritans – Rescuers and Volunteers of the Health Sector of the E.E.S. held free First Aid demonstrations for babies, children and adults, as well as our four-legged friends.
Citizens had the opportunity to learn and practice basic techniques, such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), foreign body choking treatment and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
The ACCREF Service - Accompanying Interpretation References of the Health Sector of the E.E.S. also participated in the action, with a central message "First Aid without Language Barriers", facilitating the access of people of different linguistic and cultural origins to the basic knowledge of First Aid.
