July 22: Feast of Saint Mary Magdalenetranslated

Today, the Church honors the memory of Saint Mary Magdalene, the Myrobearer and equal apostle, the holy martyr Markella, the Martyr Theophilos the Younger and Saint Menelaus, who was born in Presignier, France around 700 AD. and came from an eminent aristocratic family. Mary Magdalene came from the village of Magdala, located on the Syro-Palestinian border. This is a person misunderstood in church history, however, from the official tradition of the Church we know that she suffered from seven demons, from which Jesus freed her, according to the evangelist Mark. In gratitude, she sacrificed all her property and herself and, along with other women, became a follower of the Lord and His disciples.

Mary Magdalene's absolute devotion was rewarded by being the first, along with the Blessed Virgin Mary, to be informed of the Resurrection of Jesus. Magdalene and other disciples were the first to meet the Risen Lord, on the First day after the Sabbath.

After Pentecost, he went to Rome, where he met the emperor Tiberius and denounced Pilate, for the injustice he committed against him...
