To the Archbishop of America, the Minister of the Environmenttranslated

The Most Reverend Archbishop of America Elpidophoros welcomed the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, at the Archdiocese's headquarters in Manhattan on Thursday, September 24. The Minister is in New York as part of Greece's participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. "The Greek-American community follows your work and knows how to recognize what really matters," said the Honorable Mr. Elpidophoros.

The Minister in turn thanked the Archbishop for the work of the Church. "In a time with so many changes in our lives and geopolitical upheavals, I believe that the Church is an anchor for Hellenism," he said. "This is a time when we all need spiritual guidance," he added.

His Eminence offered the minister an icon of the Holy Trinity, a copy of the one found in the Theological School of Halki, which exists in the precincts of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. The Archbishop served there as abbot for eight years.
