Dimitriados Ignatios: "faith is a leap beyond reason"translated

Rev. Metropolitan of Dimitrias, Mr. Ignatios, on the feast of the Repatriation of the Holy Relics of the Archdeacon and First Martyr, in the presence of a large number of pilgrims. In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the Gospel passage of the day and to the person of Peter, who, at the call of the Lord, walked on the raging sea.

"This move of his was the fruit of his great love and trust in Christ. He did not act with logic, but with his heart and as long as he thinks and looks at Christ with his heart, he walks on the waves. But when the voice of reason turns him to himself and not to the sight of the Lord, he begins to sink. But the Lord does not allow it to sink and perish.'

Mr. Ignatius then remarked that “faith is a leap beyond reason. What Peter did, trusting Christ, beyond all natural law. And while he thought of Christ, he overcame the natural law and experienced the miracle.

It did not precede the miracle of faith, but was the fruit of faith, of absolute trust in the living God. But self-love deprives us of the possibility of true...

Peter walked on the waves while looking at Christ, but as soon as he heard reason and looked at himself, he began to sink. That part stuck with me. How many times do we do it in everyday life, when things get difficult. I thank Despot Ignatius for the sermon.
