Sotiris Barbarosos: 24 hours under water for children with cancertranslated

Today, Friday September 18, 2026, in Palaia Fokaia, the extremely demanding 24-hour project of the long-distance athlete, Sotiris Barbarosos, with the support of the Greek Red Cross and the Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, to break the World Record of continuous underwater walking, with a particularly important purpose: to give strength and hope to children who fight cancer every day. The great effort will be completed tomorrow, Saturday 19 September 2026, at 12:00, in Palaia Fokaia, next to the Plaza Resort.

The opening ceremony was attended and addressed by the President of the E.E.S., Dr. Antonios Avgerinos, mentioning, among other things, that the E.E.S. demonstrates in practice, once again, its support for efforts aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing the general public on important social issues. At the same time, he warmly thanked the volunteers and the staff of the E.E.S. who will remain by the athlete's side 24 hours a day to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
