Synodical support to the Christians of the Holy Land from the Patriarchate of Serbiatranslated

A message of solidarity and support to the Palestinian people, as well as intense concern for the situation prevailing in the Holy Land, was sent by the Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Porphyrios, President of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The letter was received by Dr. Ramzi Houri, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Chairman of the Supreme Presidential Committee on Church Affairs in Palestine.
In its letter, the Orthodox Church of Serbia expresses its deep regret for the continued deterioration of the living conditions of Christians, but also of all the inhabitants of the Holy Land, who are faced with harsh trials, persecutions and discrimination. As it is underlined, the suffering and extermination of innocent people, regardless of religion or origin, "goes against human dignity".
Particular emphasis is placed on the need to protect the Christian presence in the Holy Land. The Church points out that the presence of Christians in the region, which lasts more than two thousand years, is an integral part of its history and living heritage.…
