Cultivating Missionary Consciousness: Meeting Fr. Kosmas Grigoriatistranslated

My first acquaintance with Fr. Kosmas Grigoriatis, then Yiannis Aslanidis, took place in 1974 at the Brotherhood of the Cross.  We went to Rizario together.

In the spring of 1975, the then missionary of Koluezi, Father Amfilochios Tsoukos, later N. Zelandias, came to our School. He told us about the Mission. Fr. Kosmas followed him in the summer of 1975 in the Congo.

I followed him in 1977 to Mount Athos, where we were building the church of Agios Nikodemos of Agioreitos in Karyes. I heard a lot about Coluezi's Mission and his plans. He became a monk at the Gregory Monastery and in 1978, after his haircut and ordination, he left for Africa. He died a tragic death on January 28, 1989. If he was still alive I would be near him. He counted me as his future partner. He sent me letters and photos and I met him every time he came to Greece.
