Satisfaction of the Holy Synod for the return of the 48 relics from Bulgariatranslated

With its announcement, the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece welcomes the historic agreement between Greece and Bulgaria, in the context of which 48 holy relics will be returned to our country. In the announcement, the Holy Synod expresses the hope that other agreements will follow in the future, in order to return other ecclesiastical relics that were stolen from Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Finally, the announcement expresses the satisfaction of the Holy Synod as well as the warm congratulations to the Reverend Metropolitans of Serres Mr. Theologos and Mr. Dorotheo of Drama for their tireless and persistent efforts.

The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece welcomes with particular satisfaction the important agreement to return to our country, after more than a century and after many years of painstaking negotiations, the 48 holy relics that had been stolen by the Bulgarians during the First World War from the Holy Monastery of Panagia Ikosifonissa, from the Holy Monastery of Timiou Prodromos of Serres and from the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigritis.
