The Parish of Pantanassi Naxos celebrated the Deposition of the Sacred Belt with splendortranslated

On Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August 2026, the Holy Parish Church of Pantanassi of Naxos, which is the oldest Parish of the city, celebrated with splendor the Deposition of the Holy Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On the eve of the holiday, a Grand Solemn Vespers was held with Artoklasias, the patron of the Theophilus Bishop of Keramos, Mr. Bartholomeus, with the participation of the Proto-Consignor of the Holy Metropolis Archim. Fr. Dorotheos Venetsanopoulos, as well as many fathers of the island.

The divine word was preached by the Professor of the Holy Monastery of Faneromeni Naxos, Archim. Fr. Chrysostomos Stavrakis.

After Vespers, the Procession of the Holy Icon of Panagia Pantanassi in the city followed.

The Mayor of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Mr. Dimitrios Lianos, Deputy Mayors, as well as a large number of people were present.

The following day, Monday 31-8-2026, the Orthros chorostatus of the Theophilist Bishop of Keramos, Mr. Bartholomeus, and then the High Priestly Scribe, prior of the Venerable Metropolitan of Paronaxia, Mr. Kallinikos, was held, with the participation of several clergy, as well as the large participation of the congregation.

It’s good that Bishop Bartholomew came to Naxos again, it’s clear that they are waiting for him there. It’s interesting how the litany of the icon of Panagia Pantanassa went around the city - a lot of people gathered, as they write. In Nizhny, we also always try to place an icon on the altar table, but in such an ancient church this is probably quite special.

I'm glad that Bishop Vartholomeos has come to Naxos again, it's clear that he is eagerly awaited. I especially liked that they took out the icon of Panayia Pantanassa in litany through the city, with so many people - here in Constanța we rarely see such long processions. The celebration in Nexos looks solemn, especially because the church is the oldest in the city. I liked that Bishop Bartholomew led the service twice and that Monk Chrysostomos preached. In Beirut, we also bring out the icon of the Virgin on some holidays, but the streets here are narrower, so people are more crowded.
