Timothy of Thessalio: The right faith as the foundation of salvation and the Christian lifetranslated

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the procession of Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios Neraida, Farsala. During his sermon, he developed the importance of the Fourth Ecumenical Council, which met in 451 AD. in Chalcedon, pointing out that it is one of the leading moments in church history, as it clearly formulated the orthodox belief about the divine-human person of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He referred to the sects of Nestorianism and Monophysitism, which attempted to interpret the mystery of the Incarnation with human measures.

As he pointed out, the Church, through the 630 God-bearing Fathers of the Synod, proclaimed that Christ is perfect God and perfect man, with two natures that are united "unconfusedly, inexorably, indivisible and inseparably", without being confused or separated. He also emphasized that the Virgin Mary is truly the Theotokos, since in her womb the union of the created with the Uncreated took place, which is the foundation of man's salvation.

Ion FloreaThanks for the article. I liked how Metropolitan Timotei pointed out that the two natures of Christ are united "without mixing, without change, without division and without separation" - this clarifies why those heresies, Nestorianism and Monophysitism, do not hold. And that the Mother of God is truly the Mother of God, not just an ordinary mother, is the foundation of our salvation. That's right, right faith is not a theory, we have to live it day by day.
