Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Sophia Zacharakis received Italian Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, responsible for primary and secondary education, at the central coordination hub of the Athens Innovation Centers. The meeting occurred within the framework of the close Greece-Italy cooperation on education matters and the shared European agenda for digital transformation, innovation, and skills development for the future.

During discussions, the Minister thanked her counterpart for his visit to Athens and highlighted that the two Ministers have already developed a particularly close collaboration within the European Union Education Ministers’ Council. “We have known each other since meetings of the EU Education Ministers’ Council in Brussels, and we decided that our next meeting should take place here in Athens, at the central coordination hub of the Innovation Centers—a space established with support from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, where the development of modern educational scenarios and the application of artificial intelligence are at the heart of the major initiative being implemented…”

I'm glad that our ministers are meeting with the Italians on the topic of education, but let's not forget that in our schools in Cluj many children still don't have interactive whiteboards like the rest of the world. What do you think, do these Innovation Centers also reach regular schools or are they just for demonstrations?

Well said, Nicolae. Here in Volos, we only see the Innovation Centers in photos, while in our schools we are still struggling with old computers and interactive whiteboards that take half an hour to open. If artificial intelligence is left only for demonstration in Athens, what is the point?

In Odesa, too, innovations and artificial intelligence are often talked about at such meetings, and in ordinary schools, children are still sitting at old computers that barely turn on. It is interesting whether these Centers of Kαinotomy will at least reach district schools, or will remain only for photos in Athens.
