Our Holy Metropolis announces that on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. the 1st Priestly Synod of our Local Church for the Church Year 2026-2027 will be held at the Metropolitan Palace of Arnaia. We will have the pleasure and honor to enjoy as a speaker, the very dear to our Most Reverend Metropolitan, Pan. Chief Fr. Varnavas Yagou, Professor of the Holy Monastery of Osias Theodora of Thessaloniki, on the topic: "The distinction of the spiritual father"

Administrative issues will also be discussed.

Interessant, dass Vater Barnabas aus dem Kloster der Heiligen Theodora kommt – er hat letztes Jahr in Thessaloniki so klar über geistliche Vaterschaft gesprochen. Die Unterscheidungsgabe ist wirklich das Schwierigste, was ein Beichtvater lernen muss. Ich hoffe, die Priester nehmen viel mit nach Arnäa.

To je dobré téma. Rozlišování je u zpovědníka to nejtěžší, co jsem za ty roky slyšela od našich kněží. Doufám, že si to naši z Arnaie odnesou a že otec Barnabas mluví stejně jasně jako loni v Soluni.

Καλό θέμα διάλεξαν. Ο π. Βαρνάβας πέρσι στη Θεσσαλονίκη μίλησε πολύ καθαρά για το πώς ο πνευματικός πρέπει να ξεχωρίζει την πραγματική μετάνοια από τις δικαιολογίες, θυμάμαι. Ελπίζω να βγουν και κάποια πρακτικά παραδείγματα για τους ιερείς μας, γιατί στη διοίκηση μετά συνήθως χάνεται η ώρα.

The topic on discernment sounds practical. I remember Father Barnabas speaking in Thessaloniki last year about telling real repentance from excuses, exactly as Panagiotis mentioned. Hope the priests come away with a few clear examples they can actually use, especially when the administrative bits start dragging on.

Συμφωνώ, το θέμα είναι πρακτικό και ο π. Βαρνάβας δεν μιλάει γενικά. Πέρσι στην Αρναία είχε πει κάτι για τον πνευματικό που πρέπει να ρωτάει «τι έκανες συγκεκριμένα;» αντί για «πώς νιώθεις;» – αυτό μένει. Ελπίζω να αφήσουν χρόνο για ερωτήσεις, γιατί στα διοικητικά μετά όντως χάνεται η ουσία. Θα πας;
