"Agia Tellyria" 1964: The crime with the Turkish napalm bombs (VIDEO)translated

Every year such days revive in the collective memory of the Greek Cypriots the tragic events of August 1964 from the cowardly bombardment of Tellyria with napalm bombs by the Turks. As a result of the barbaric attack, the death of 55 people, 28 of whom were civilians, the uprooting of hundreds of I/K from their ancestral homes, as well as incalculable material damage. In the historic video from the British Pathe archive, all the tragic images of those early days in the area are captured.

As Fanoula Argyrou notes in her article "The Turkish bombings of Tellyria" (Simerini 02/04/2014) on August 7, 1964, after reconnaissance flights, the Turkish air force, in a sign of superiority, flew over the Reds trying to discourage the Greek Cypriots who had gathered around Mansoura and the Kokkinon on August 6 and 7. On August 8 and 9, Turkish fighters began their attacks.

Turkish planes bombed road crossings and Greek Cypriot naval patrols on August 8, and bombing continued on August 9 with rockets and (it is said) napalm bombs against positions of the National…

I remember as a child listening to our relatives from Cyprus talking about those days. 55 killed, of which 28 civilians, and then fleeing from their homes - this is not easily forgotten. The British Pathe video shows exactly how brutal that napalm attack was.
