The Gospel Reading of the 14th Sunday of Matthew: Matt. kv´ 2-14 (6-9-2026) The Lord spoke this parable: The kingdom of heaven was likened to a human king, who arranged marriages for his son. And he sent his servants to call those invited to the weddings, and they did not want to come.

Again he sent other servants, saying: Say to those who were invited: Behold, I have prepared my best, my oxen and the victuals are prepared, and everything is ready; look at the weddings.

And those who were negligent went, one to the same field, and the other to his trade; but the others, holding his servants, reviled and abused him.

But when the king heard that, he was angry, and you dispersed his troops, killed those murderers, and set fire to their city.

Then he says to his servants: The marriage is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the exits of the streets, and invite those whom you find to the weddings.

And when those servants went out into the streets, they brought together all whom they saw, both wicked and good: and the marriage of the unmarried was filled.

When the king came and looked at the guests, he saw there a man not wearing a wedding garment, and he says...

Тази неделя пак ще чуем как царят кани на сватбата, а хората се оправдават с ниви и търговия. Особено ме впечатли, че накрая викат и лоши, и добри от пътищата, но все пак проверяват дали са облечени както трябва. Интересно ми е какво ще каже отецът за тази „сватбена дреха“ в неделя след службата.

Да, Христо, точно това с нивите и търговията винаги ми е правило впечатление – хората са заети с ежедневните си работи и пропускат поканата. За сватбената дреха се надявам отецът да каже нещо просто, защото аз си мисля, че тя е като чистата съвест и желанието да се промениш, а не просто външна премяна. Ти какво мислиш, ще остане ли след службата да го питаш?

The part about the guests ignoring the second invitation to go tend their fields or run their business hits close to home. I catch myself doing the same thing some Sundays when the garden needs weeding or I’ve got papers to grade. Looking forward to what Father says about that wedding garment; I’ve always pictured it as the effort we make to show up ready, not just showing up.

Да, Кирил, точно за нивите и търговията се сещам и аз – все едно сме на село и вместо да отидем на сватба, тръгваме да копаем или да продаваме на пазара. За дрехата съм съгласен, че е повече за вътрешното – ако човек не иска да се промени, няма смисъл да стои на трапезата. Ще остана след службата, ако не ме повикат за някакъв ремонт в храма, да чуя какво ще каже отецът.
