Cultivation of Missionary Consciousnesstranslated

August 1, 2026 · 1 min read

Meeting the Apostle Amfilochios Tsoukos The other acquaintance that captured the missionary consciousness was the acquaintance with blessed Father Amfilochios Tsoukos. He was a missionary in Kolwezi, Congo.

He visits us in 1975 in Rizario and talks to us about the Mission. That's where Pope Kosmas Aslanidis "stung". That is why in the summer of 1975 he went and continued to Koluezi. Then my decision for the Mission came back to life.

We met again in Rhodes, where my spiritual child from Northern Epirus became a nun in his Monastery, in Panagia Ùpseni. When he was about to resign from the Diocese of New Zealand, he invited me, where I went on Easter 2020. He had recommended me as his successor.

I admired him because he was a student of Saint Amfilochios of Patmos, from whom he was inspired to go on a mission. I admired him for the Mission in Fiji, but also in Eastern Thrace in Ganochora. I admired him for spiritually fortifying Agathonisi.
