Memorial for Ioannis Kapodistrias in Corfutranslated

On Monday, September 28, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, held a memorial service for the repose of his soul, Ioannou Kapodistrias of Corfu, the first Governor of Greece free from the Ottoman yoke, in the Holy Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos Platyteras in Corfu, where his grave is also located. The memorial service was attended, among others, by the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Mr. Ioannis Trepeklis, the Mayor of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Stefanos Poulimenos, the Deputy of Corfu, Mr. Dimitrios Biagis, the Regional Director of Education of the Ionian Islands, Mr. Petros Angelopoulos, the Director of Primary Education of Corfu, Mr. Aristotelis Vlassis, as well as principals, teachers and students of Corfu schools, who held the Greek flags of their schools.
