Ordination of a Deacon in the Diocese of Matzouga and Northern Madagascartranslated

With the blessings of His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Mr. Theodore II, and with feelings of deep praise to the All-Good God, in the Holy Cathedral of Agios Nikolaos Matzouga, Father Stavros was ordained a Deacon. This day is a special blessing for the local Church and the Orthodox Mission. The ordination of a local clergyman is of particular importance, because he is a man who knows the language, culture, traditions and real needs of his people. He can stand next to people, share their anxieties and convey the message of the Gospel in a vivid and understandable way.

The Orthodox Mission is not built only with churches and projects, but mainly with people who dedicate their lives to the ministry of Christ. That is why the promotion and support of local clergy is one of the most important conditions for the consolidation and fruitfulness of the Church in Madagascar and throughout Africa.

Well, a local like Father Stavros who knows their language and customs is quite another. You can't really bring the gospel if you don't understand what hurts people every day. Congratulations to Bishop Nifon and joy for Madagascar!
