Gerontissa Nymphodora: 50 years of Solitude at Panagia Xeniatranslated

At the Holy Monastery of Panagia below Xenia, Rev. Metropolitan of Dimitrias, Mr. Ignatios, in the presence of a large number of pilgrims. It is an extremely important day, as the Abbess of the Monastery, Gerontissa Nymphodora, leads her nomenclature, while completing fifty (50) full years of monastic life in the Monastery of Panagia Xenia. In his speech, His Eminence referred to his spiritual ties with Gerontissa, who, 50 years ago, received the monastic form from his late Elder, Metropolitan of Piraeus Kallinikos. He praised "her humble attitude, her authentic love for the Monastery, her prudence, discretion, intelligence, hard work and full awareness that Our Lady of Xenia, with her miraculous Icon and her Holy Belt, is a place of pilgrimage and blessing for thousands of believers. We cooperate with absolute trust, resulting in the completion of the new Monastery. With great care, with a lot of effort and with the philocalia that distinguishes her, Gerontissa created an ornament for our Local Church".
